45 years! That’s how long it took the Kings to finally win their first Stanley Cup. I don’t know about you, but I am still celebrating. No, I am not pouring champagne over my head, or hanging out in front of Staples Center, but I still watch and read everything LA Kings.
That brings me to the DVD I just received. It’s the Stanley Cup® Champions 2012: Los Angeles Kings® from Warner Home Video. It is even better than I expected, it is awesome!
It touches on the Kings season, but puts most of its focus on the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The best thing about this DVD, is it’s just not game highlights, but it is game highlights interspersed with interviews with key players throughout the 16 games. The behind the scenes Cup footage is something you won’t want to miss.
No puck is left unturned. All the players and coaches talk candidly about the experience of bringing the Cup to LA. I had chills for the entire 2 hours of this amazing DVD.
And the players are so candid. I am so used to seeing them interviewed after the game, when they give pat, sometimes cliched answers. Not on the Stanley Cup® Champions 2012: Los Angeles Kings®. All the players let their guard down, letting you in on some of their inter-most thoughts. Jonathan Quick was loose and fun, even cracking a smile when he talked about blue line goal he allowed to Derek Morris in the Phoenix series.
Stanley Cup® Champions 2012: Los Angeles Kings® is chalk full of extras too. They dedicate quite a bit of time on the post Cup celebration (yay!). They also go over the top 10 Kings plays of the year, and even more interviews with pretty much everyone associated with the Kings.
Not to be outdone, they also have a section that touches on the entire 2011/12 season.
Stanley Cup® Champions 2012: Los Angeles Kings® is a must for every Kings fan. It is a blast to watch and I know I’ll be checking it out again soon.
